Monster Dog Part Deux: The Comic
After a few years of blood, sweat and tears, Monster Dog: A Tasty Bowl of Demonic Dog Food was finally released in May of 2016. When I started doing the comic, I went in with the goal of trying to push my comic skills to new heights while trying to do a page a week.
Initially, I was able to keep up with that schedule, but as production continued, my day job's duties began to balloon. I was animating at the time, and an opportunity came to oversee animation on a pilot project. This was on top of my regular duties (normal in animation) but it was a great opportunity, so I went for it. The show was never picked up.
Roughly halfway through the production of the comic, we moved from Vancouver to the sunshine coast in an effort to keep our housing costs low, as we were already paying high rent (at the time, now of course it's so much worse) and had just received another rent increase. I finished the remaining pages while taking the ferry to and from Vancouver, and promptly dropped from exhaustion. The comic seemed well received, and we had a lot of fun tabling at various shows showing it off.
